According to an interim agreement with the United States of America the currency of New Mexico is tied to the dollar at the rate of 1:1. The New Mexico Free Trade Agreement (you probably haven't heard about it because even the local news people are reluctant to try to pronounce NMFTA in public) has further opened the doors to unlimited development and exploitation of scarce resources.
